The
love and interest for natural materials seen in Erin Farnsworth's Arranged Stonesseries comes as
no surprise when it is learned that she was born and raised in
the Mountain West. Growing up in Utah, Erin began her professional
study of art at Brigham Young University, where she earned a Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree in 2001. During this time, the focus of
her work was watercolor portraiture.
It wasn't until she moved East and
began
graduate
school that her strong connections to the rocky and mountainous
landscape of Utah were realized. The tie she felt to the natural
materials that reminded her of her native landscape began to show
itself in her artwork - and so the Arranged
Stonesseries
began.
Erin finished her graduate work in May of 2004, earning a Master
of Fine Arts degree
in painting from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
While living in Washington D.C. area, she was a painting instructor at
Guy Mason Studio Arts.
Currently living with her husband and two children in the St. Louis metro area,
Erin continues to create watercolor works for her Arranged Stonesseries, as
well as still-life, figure, and portrait paintings in
watercolor and oil. She is represented by Broadway Center of
Arts
in Belleville, Illinois.
